To study the Way is to study the Self.
To study the Self is to forget the Self.
To forget the Self is to be enlightened by all things.
To be enlightened by all things is to remove the barrier between Self and Other.
If you think you are enlightened, go and spend a week with your parents.
Something to consider
- 'There but for the grace of God go I' is an idiomatic expression of unknown origin that is often attributed to John Bradford, who while observing a group of prisoners being led away to be executed, allegedly said: 'There but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford.' In 1655 he became one of 280 people burned at the stake in the Tower of London for religious dissent by Queen Mary Tudor (aka as 'Bloody Mary').
